Tradespeople and Service Providers who are coming on site for maintenance, electrical, plumbing, building work should be properly insured and hold trade licences and accreditations where required.

Collecting this information is not always as straight forward as it may appear at first glance as a number of factors need to be considered; does the contractor trade as company, sole trader, partnership, trust? This will have an impact on the information a business should carry in terms of insurances and licences. Do they also need a supervisor licences for their trade? Is Workers’ Comp./Work Cover required?

It is crucial that businesses are properly vetted before they attend the work site, also if it is an ongoing agreement, information should be kept up to date for the duration of the engagement.

This is where we come in; Ebix Trades Monitor provides an outsourced contractor management service and Strata companies independently engage us exchanging data through their respective Strata Software Providers. Contractors will be checked for compliance and information will be recorded accordingly. Strata then will be able to issue work orders or pay invoices.

This is about risk mitigation as engaging uninsured or improperly licensed tradies/contractors can pose a liability risk to the party engaging them without exercising due diligence.

Ebix Trades Monitor checks include are not limited to;

  • ABN/entity
  • Insurance(s)Trade
  • Licences
  • Accreditations

Check with your Strata before engaging Tradespeople and Service Providers.
